Audio Interview and Digital Video (2:59 min)
In an audio interview, my former colleague shares insights into his struggle with depression and a corresponding identity crisis. Throughout the interview he acknowledges that his job is largely the source of his depression. And yet, paradoxically, he depends on this very job to get him through each day. He states,“Even though I’m just going through the motions, at least I have motions to go through.”
Having shared many of the same responsibilities and some of the same feelings, I created a monotonous gray set and performed a simple activity that emphasizes (and purposely belabors) the psychological and physical dullness that one is faced with when working an uninspiring job.
